About the Role

What Being A Group Accountant At Playroll Entails

This role is focused on reviewing financial statements and tax filings prepared by external accountants across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with local GAAP and group reporting standards.

You’ll help keep global accounting processes consistent and on schedule by tracking review progress, resolving outstanding items, and supporting month-end and year-end close deadlines.

The role also involves working closely with Payroll, Operations, AP, AR, external accountants, and auditors to clarify requirements, resolve queries, and support smooth financial reporting across entities.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements prepared by external accountants for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review tax computations and filings for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to local deadlines.
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, errors, or concerns in externally prepared work, and follow through to resolution.
  • Provide accounting support and guidance to external accountants on queries, policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining consistent global accounting policies while respecting local statutory nuances.
  • Track review status and outstanding items across all entities, following up proactively to keep jurisdictions on schedule.
  • Maintain organised records of reviews performed, findings, and follow-up actions.
  • Support month-end and year-end close deadlines by ensuring external deliverables are reviewed on time.
  • Partner with Payroll, Operations, AP, and AR teams to resolve queries and support smooth close processes.
  • Communicate review outcomes and support audit processes by preparing evidence and liaising with auditors and accountants.
Skills & Experience

What You'll Bring

  • CA (SA) qualification, newly qualified.
  • Comfortable reviewing financial statements and tax filings, with a sharp eye for inconsistencies and errors.
  • Solid understanding of financial statement components and core tax principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence querying and guiding external accountants across different cultures and time zones.
  • Excellent organisational skills across multiple entities, deadlines, and review cycles.
  • Punctual, deadline-driven approach with strong follow-up discipline.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Payroll, Operations, AP, and AR teams.
BENEFICIAL

  • Experience working with external accountants or outsourced finance providers.
  • Familiarity with modern accounting systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Xero, or equivalent.
